Joshua and Melissa invited us to go backpacking this weekend. Of course we were up for the challenge. Since we got off work at 5:00 we ended up not getting to the parking lot of crystal lake until 10:30. We loaded up our gear and started up the trail.
Since we had been on this trail last year we thought we know where we were going but the more we traveled the more we realized that we were not going the right way. So after about a 15min hike we decided to just set up camp where we were because it was getting so late. We hiked a few yards off the trail and set up camp. The funny thing was that we thought that we had gone way off of the trail but once morning came we found that the way the trail had curved we were still pretty close to it and had many hikers passing by throughout the morning.
Once the morning arrived we found ourselves surrounded by mosquitoes. If you stood in one place for more than 10 seconds you were covered with them. Which made small tasks like cooking breakfast and natures call a real challenge! Since you had to constantly be moving we decided to hike the trail that we had been following the night before. It let to many other small lakes and new views of the area. Thanks for the invite Joshua and Melissa!

Jeff and Joshua with their 60lb packs
We had to get a pic of the fire-pit that Joshua created.
View of long lake. Just one of the many lakes along the trail.

That looks like a lot of fun and a lot of work too. I'm glad you guys didn't have to carry the 60 pound packs!
