There is no place like home

  • Hitch-hiking to make your subway connection in time...Free
  • Subway...$1.50
  • Jeff's sprint to get our luggage from our hotel room...Free
  • Taxi cab 1/4 of a mile...$5.00
  • Subway with the slowest driver in recorded history...$1.50
  • 5A metro bus to airport...$6.70
  • Making your 4:30 flight after arriving at the airport at 4:10 and getting to the gate by 5:20...PRICELESS!
  • But not making your connecting flight and getting stuck in a grungy hotel with a nasty dinner...A sad day in the history of Brown adventures :(
Well Jeff and I are stuck in Detroit, Michigan tonight. Our first plane from DC was delayed and so we missed our connecting flight. The airline put us up in a hotel and gave us food vouchers. We went to the restaurant at the hotel and the food was horrible, but because our day was so busy and we hadn't eaten since breakfast it was palatable.

It has been one crazy day because we would have missed our flight if it had not been delayed. Our original plane was supposed to leave at 4:30 and we arrived at the airport at 4:10. Ooooopppppsss...I guess we spent a little bit too much time at the DC temple trying to squeeze in one more sight in the beautiful DC area.

Oh my, Kids, it sounds like you've had quite the travel adventures! It will be fun to hear about your experiences and favorite sights in Washington, D.C.

Were you able to visit with Cade and Lyndsey Holmstead? When we visited Florida years ago with Celeste and Brent, a tourist told us that the D.C. Temple view is gorgeous from the freeway. I've been thinking about you this week. . .

I leave the Salt Lake airport at 10:35 on Saturday morning. Was your flight scheduled for 4:30 a.m. or p.m.? How was your housing in D.C.? Love you!
